Backing up files is something that everyone who use a computer needs to do, not only to avoid losing your information but also if it does correctly to help your computer running smoothly.
There are some things to consider when backing up your files. The first thing to know is that you can back up your files on your PC and also, you can use external drives or even online solutions to solve these problems. At the end, everything depends on how valuable your information is and the budget you have.
Possible alternatives you can use to backing up files
If you want to go for the cheapest backup part, which is store a copy of your documents in a CD or in a Memory stick, that is fine, but remember that you need to back up that again next time you update the file. I know this sound logical and silly, but let's face it, will you remember to save it again, and again, and again each time you update a single file. This could be a hassle and it is very easy to forget.
Another way is to send email with your files to you or to another email account, and in this case you know that you can access remotely to the file whenever you need it. The problem here is still the same as above, if this is not synchronize it is easy to forget, and on top of that, can you send emails for all the files you have in the computer?
Another alternative is to consider having an additional hard drive, and every day perform a back up. The only cons that I can mention here is that if by any reason you have an issue with your computer and can not even turn it on, you will not be able to access the information, but chances of that are very slim .
The best alternative is always to have a remote system where you can access directly from internet anytime, no matter where you are, and that it is 100% synchronize with your computer, so you will not take any risk. The only issue here is the cost. There are several solutions like the one I've just mentioned, and the prices will vary depending on the amount of memory you want to use.
There is no doubt that backing up files are extremely important. In these days, information is everything, and if you lose it, this could mean not only time but but money you can lose. Lets find the alternative that works better for you based on your budget and develop the habit of backing up files whether it is originally or automated every single day.
