Tommy Hilfiger Ready To Wear Collection Spring Summer 2017
YES, if you’re Tommy Hilfiger you can close off entire roads in Los Angeles, you can also claim a chunk of Venice Beach and call it Tommyland whereupon you can ship in fairground rides, ice-lolly carts, food trucks; you can even erect a stage and have Fergie and Lion Babe perform and invite 3000 guests – Lady Gaga among them – to be a part of it all. And yes, you can charter a plane, and call it Air Tommy to fly in your pick of models from Bella Hadid to Joan Smalls, so they can make a pitstop appearance for you before heading off to the New York shows tomorrow. But what you can’t do, with all the goodwill in the world, is guarantee the weather, even in sunny LA. And so it was a pity that Hilfiger’s show this afternoon was staged amidst the gloom of a thick fog. But as soon as it turned to dusk and those gleaming runway lights came on, it actually made for a dramatically smoky atmosphere – especially the vision that is Gigi Hadid (who debuted her second capsule collection TommyxGigi with the designer on his runway tonight) emerging through the mist to open the show.
