From Georgia to Maine, the Appalachian Trail is a classic place to go backpacking. It is steeped in history and the Appalachian mountains are both beautiful and inspiring. It is also one of the safest places for hiking in America with clearly marked trails and signs for scenic views, lodging, and camping. Whether you decide to visit for a week, or if you intend to through-hike the entire trail, a backpacking adventure here will leave you with a lasting memory.

Located near the border of Canada in the state of Montana is one of the most pristine areas of wilderness left in the United States: Glacier National Park. This vast 1 million acre land reserve is home to hundreds of unique species of animals, and backpacking here will allow you to experience the west the way that Lewis and Clark did.
