Top 50 One-Hit-Wonder Songs

They came and before you knew it they were gone? I have always wondered how they managed to create that single 15 minutes of fame and yet not be able to sustain it thereafter.

It is from this understanding that we can realize the hard work for those artists who have lasted now decades into the industry and can still manage to churn up hit after hit like like Elton John, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton to name just a few.

One Hit Wonders are a listing of those songs which were probably the only hits from these artists. They may have been able to follow it up with another song or two, however none of these follow-ups could meet the hit-factor of their original hit. This would be probably the only big song you would know of the artist and in most cases these artists have disappeared to oblivion now. One would always wonder where they are today.

To have a bit fair, I have chosen artists who as far as my knowledge takes me, are no longer recording as such they probably would not be able to churn up a hit in current times unless they return to the forefront of the industry. It is for this reason I have chosen to omit songs such as Marc Cohns – 'Walking In Memphis', Natalie Imbruglias 'Torn', The Ting Tings – 'Shut Up And Let Me Go' to name a few. They can still come up with a big hit. They are still on the scene trying hard!

A One-Hit-Wonder is actually more of the artist than the song. So the listing here is artist-wise. The listing clearly shows how this one song identified the artist or even vice-versa.

One-Hot-Wonder or not … these songs are everlasting and still played and remembered today. Imagine its impact then?

Do send me your feedback if you think any song on this list should have been replaced.

Pleasant Listening!
